Welcome from the Principal

Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou katoa. Nau mai, haere mai ki te kura tuarua o Kaikōura.

Welcome to an environment of care, opportunity fun and education. Kaikōura High School may be a small co-educational secondary school but it is nestled in a stunning setting with a team of staff that care deeply about our students being equipped to take on life in the wider world.

As a board and school, we have high expectations for our students and ourselves and we aspire to have our whole school community role model the values of Hiranga/Excellence, Whāinga/Endeavour, Whakapono/Integrity, Whakaute/Respect and Awhi. We acknowledge as a school the privilege we have as we work with Te Rūnanga o Kaikōura in our cultural space.

Success can take many forms and we are committed to students achieving their form of success no matter the area – academic, sporting, cultural or social. Our goal is to give opportunities where students can show their wide range of skills in our unique environment.

I invite you to join us in developing our students as leaders for the future, able to navigate and contribute to Kaikōura and the world.

Our latest additions to the library - thanks to a generous donation from a local whanau.

After much student feedback regarding our school uniform this year, we have already introduced the popular school hoodie for any student to purchase on Kindo.

We are now pleased to announce that as of 2026, our new Year 7s will be the first students to begin the phase-out of the old school shirts.

Our new school shirts are polo shirt style, where students can move more freely in them, be happier with the fit and show pride in their kura.

These will be available to purchase from January 2026 in Kindo.

Our new PE tops are available to purchase for all, but are compulsory at this stage only for Year 7. The rest of the school can continue to wear the old style for now if they choose. These tops have been designed with house culture in mind – the design was originally created by ex-Student Eruera Solomon for our sport uniforms and they are colour coded for our two houses, Hiratū and Whakatū.

When you go to purchase in Kindo, please make sure you know the house of your child!

Kids Sizes 10, 12, 14 are still on the way and will be available in January 2026 , but S, M, L available to purchase in Kindo from today. Come get fitted up!

In collaboration with Paladin Sports, we know these new uniforms will stand the test of rangatahi. Easy to clean, tougher, better fit, quick dry and cost effective. We have seen the great quality of this well-known NZ brand and look forward to our new partnership.
