Find out about our Vision & Values

Welcome from the Principal

Nau Mai, Piki Mai, Tahuti Mai, Welcome…

Kaikōura High School is the heart of the community for our students as they mature into young adults. Our size enables us to nurture this development by knowing our students as individuals and build learning pathways with them and their families as they move through the school.

Our five core values are expressed on our school logo and are an integral part of everything we do. Quality learning relationships are central to the school’s special character and our core values drive these.

Kaikōura High School is a co-educational Year 7 to 13 school. At Years 7 and 8 students experience the familiarity of a homeroom setting as well as the range of specialist subjects of a secondary environment. In the middle school, Year 9 and 10 students choose from a stimulating subject range studied over two years. Our senior students are offered a wide range of academic and vocational subjects preparing them for employment or further study when they leave school.

We aim to offer our students opportunities to become well-rounded, knowledgeable and capable lifelong learners and leaders who are culturally sensitive and who will contribute positively to society.
