Welcome back! We hope everyone got some sunshine and feel like they had a bit of a break over the summer. Of course, it is going to get hotter now we are at school! As always in term 1 there is lots going on and many trips coming up. There is also industrial action by teachers that may impact some events.
Communication – Kamar parent portal
Each parent/caregiver has their own individual login to the parent portal. If you don’t have your login and password information please contact your Form Teacher asap. The portal has loads of useful information, such as the school calendar, student attendance, school notices, etc. The link to the portal is kamar.kaikourahigh.school.nz.
Building Names
As students may have mentioned we have had a few changes this year – first the drop to two houses (Hiratu and Whakatu – it’s been great to see the house spirit getting up and running and the chants are slowly getting louder! We have also got a change to our buildings. They have essentially been named for the last however long (A/B/C can’t really be called names!) and now have names representing local Pa sites of importance. The old C block – now Matariki, S block – Waipapa, B block – Peketā, A block – Omihi and the Gym – Pari whakatau. The story of each name will be on
the outside of each block as well as a map showing where the local site is.

Term 2 starts on Wednesday 26th April!
Our two big fundraisers this year – Kaikoura Adventure Race occurs in the first holidays April 15/16th and the Mountains to Sea Marathon is on October 21st – we will be looking for assistance on the day from parents.
Uniform
From the end of February, the school uniform will no longer be available through Hunting and Fishing and we thank Anton and the team for the work they have put in with our uniform. All parts of the uniform other than shoes will be available through Kaikoura High and we will advise how this operates as we get closer to March!
