Pānui 10

Kia ora tātou – just a quick note to acknowledge everyone and a big thank you from me for all the support over the past few weeks as we have navigated some big changes in personnel and all the disruptions at KHS.  Hope everyone has a well-deserved break of some description to start fresh in July!

Our hardworking Board of Trustees have started the recruitment process for a new principal and there is much consultation (of the whole community) to come from the start of next term.  Heaps more information coming your way soon!

REMEMBER

A reminder that as a school we get free period products every month and they are supplied to cater for every student in the school – if your child is in need of any they are welcome to help themselves to the products in the sick bay or if it’s more comfortable for a parent to come and get them feel free to come pick some up!

Even in a short week much has occurred student-wise:

Cactus – last Sunday was the culmination of 8 weeks of hard training three times a week at 6 am in the morning.  30+ students took part in the Longest Day and pushed themselves both physically and mentally in a team environment.  All these students stepped up big time and worked extremely hard to challenge themselves.  There are literally 1000’s of photos on Facebook!!!

Basketball – our Kaikoura High School team that has been competing in Wednesday night competitions in Blenheim, played in the final this term this week.  Despite their best efforts, they came away without the win.  This team has improved immensely from their first term in the competition where they struggled to register a win to now being in the finals!   Ka pai te mahi!

Year 7/8 Science Fair – the Year 78 students had displayed in the library over the last couple of days highlighting all the work they have done this term on their science badges.  They have been incredibly thorough and it makes a science teacher proud to know what’s coming through the school!

OVER THE HOLIDAYS

Over the holidays don’t forget to support a couple of great local events:
