INDUSTRIAL ACTION

PPTA members are now in arbitration so we hope for an outcome soon.  It means all industrial action has ceased in the meantime with the exception of the Paid Union Meeting on Wednesday 28 June.  This is so the members can vote on the terms of arbitration.  School will start at period 3 (11.15 am) and bus students will be supervised in the morning.

A WEE REMINDER

A wee reminder there are always lots of photos on the Facebook page.  Also, the list of student opportunities at the end of this newsletter for seniors is also on the portal home page.

PRIZEGIVING 2023

Thanks so much for all the feedback.  It is really appreciated and there have been some great points made.  There was a narrow margin that voted for keeping the current structure of all students together so we will run with that this year.  But we will be implementing much of the feedback to streamline and involve more student direction.

MATARIKI 2023

Matariki falls in the holidays but there is a great community-organised event happening on July 20th (first week of Term 3).

KHS SCHOOL BALL 2023

Since our last newsletter, we have had our biannual school ball.  It was a fantastic event and although it was a small group they were heaps of fun with pretty much non-stop dancing.  The students looked amazing and it’s really cool to see them dressed up in a different context.

TE WAHAROA

The Te Waharoa course has been doing some intensive work learning about diving and local resources.  On a cold day, the intrepid group went diving south of Kaikoura.  Looks like fun but cold!!!

QUEEN CHARLOTTE EXCHANGE

Queen Charlotte College exchange took place on June 14th. It was a fantastic day started awesomely with a whole school powhiri where our students did us proud with the haka.  The sports were played in great spirit and overall Kaikoura High took out the win.  Such a competitive event and both schools are keen to explore extending the sports being played as well as maybe have a summer event as well. Congratulations to all who took part!
