Awards and Trophies
The school gives recognition to it’s students for achievements in a wide range of activities, including:
Academic Awards in each subject for:
- Excellence
- Merit
- Endeavour
Sporting & Cultural Awards for:
- Sports Championships
- Special Awards, including Consistently Displaying School Values, Service to School and Community, and Poutama o Mangamaunu
These awards are an integral part of our end-of-year Prize Giving ceremony, which in itself is a celebration of student excellence. An Excellence Breakfast is held each year to recognise senior students’ academic achievement, and any other achievement by a student involving representation at any level higher than at provincial level (i.e. Top of the South/South Island/National).
Koia Koia: Reaching for the Heights
Throughout the year students are able to gain credits towards a ‘Koia Koia Award’ for displaying our core values and/or leadership in the School. When enough credits are won students are progressively awarded bronze, silver, gold, platinum and diamond Koia Koia awards. There are also three lucky draws every term for those students who have earned Koia Koia.
The Koia Koia Awards correspond with significant mountains:
Bronze | Kaiterau (40 points) |
Silver | Te Ao Whekere (90 points) |
Gold | Tapuae O Uenuku (125 points) |
Platinum | Aoraki (160 points) |
Diamond | Mt Everest (200 points) |
